Situated in the Alpes-Maritimes (Maritime Alps) region close to the Italian border and right in the middle of the Mercantour, the village of Saint-Martin-Vésubie has been hosting the Université d'Altitude for the past 3 years. With a population of 1400, Saint-Martin-Vésubie boasts a number of remarkable facilities such as chapels and churches for concerts, rehearsal spaces and conference room in the Vésubia park, hotels and B&B's for students and UA workers as well as a wide variety of restaurants.

The Université d'Altitude becomes a real presence in the village, optimising the resources offered by this magnificent place. Lunch is shared between all the students, professors and the UA team every day by the old wood stove situated at the heart of the village; rehearsals and concerts take place in the churches and chapels; group hikes are organized in the Mercantour national park (rising up to the Italian border at 2000m altitude), allowing a more informal setting for teachers and musicians to discuss; and opportunities to get more in touch with the local inhabitants and so solidify the University's activities within the village.
